Research and technical record

Process metallurgy grounded in operating questions.

Dr Ganguly's research collaborations include manganese ore reduction, silicomanganese chemistry, slag-carbon reactions, refractories and furnace practice, particularly through work with Professor Oleg Ostrovski and UNSW collaborators.

Research themes

A linked laboratory and plant perspective.

Manganese reduction

Ore characterisation, reduction sequence, gas atmosphere and phase development during carbothermal and gaseous reduction.

Silicomanganese systems

Carbon solubility, phase composition, slag chemistry and the interaction between carbonaceous materials and MnO-bearing slags.

Furnace application

Freeze linings, refractory performance, electrode practice, furnace monitoring and the translation of research into plant decisions.
